Now Reading: Yakuza Moon

You may have missed my post about Tattoo before, but I have mentioned how much I love getting tattoos and I plan to have a full body tattoo someday, somehow. It doesn’t necessarily mean I like all people with tattoo. I see body tattoo as an expression of one’s self, while others just get it for fun. It’s nice that some people like Johnny Depp who considers it as a diary.
Speaking of diary, I am enjoying this memoir from a former Yakuza daughter, Shoko Tendo. I’ve read an article about her years ago and decided to read her story titled Yakuza Moon. It is a sad, but a strong story about the daughter of a former Yakuza boss who lived a life from riches to rags. Despite all the abuse she went through and mistakes she made as a daughter, Shoko did all her best to become a good daughter later in her life when her parents were older and dying. In her battles, you see Shoko as a strong person but weak when it comes to the people she loves most. Reading her memoir reminded me of Steig Larsson’s Trilogy of The Girl  with a Dragon Tattoo.
