I was feeling down yesterday. To brush it all off, I went to one of my favorite second-hand bookshop La Belle Aurore Bookshop which I am lucky enough, is only 1 tricycle ride from my place.
I applied my own tips How To Stop Yourself From Crying When You're In Public. I read some books and was about to purchase John Irving's, A Widow For One Year until I saw this magnificent book.
I've been looking for Frida Kahlo biography books for years. There was a different Frida Kahlo book I wanted to buy at Powerbooks in Ayala Center Cebu, but the price just won't go down to 500.00 Php even if the book had gotten so dirty and over-browsed. I asked for their manager to give me a big discount because of that, but they said that the price will not go under 700.00php. So I asked "So you would just rather keep this in the stockroom instead of selling it?" no answer, that means yes. They really pissed me off.
Luckily I got this Frida Kahlo The Bush Of Anguish for 270.00 Php only at La Belle Aurore Bookshop. I returned John Irving back because I promised myself to buy only one book this pay day since I have already spent enough last 2 days.
My mood changed and I was hugging the book the whole time. I amused the lady at the bookshop, and she said that someone else wanted to buy the book when he/she gets back. "Sorry, but she's all mine now" I told the lady and she laughed. I told her about the book I have been wanting to acquire from Powerbooks and she took me by surprised when she said "Fuck them". This petite lady wearing thick glasses and nice smile strongly said that. She was also unhappy when t I told her about the book's price.
I went back home with a better mood last night, and very happy with what I purchased.
