Last night, I went to Vicente Sotto Hospital to visit my niece. She broke her leg because her mother was drunk the other night and stumbled upon her. My niece Kate, just turned 3 last month. It was the first time I saw her and she's beautiful and smart. I really felt sorry for my niece, but I was glad that she was strong enough. I bought her food and I'm glad she loved it. She loves Jollibee french fries, Fita biscuits, and I hope she'll love the cookies I bought her too.
It was my first time to be in a public hospital here in Cebu and the first thought I had in mind was "Thank God I'm not a patient here". I guess it's one of the worst places to be. I was praying in my mind thanking God that my family are in good health. I wish we had better public hospitals here in Cebu. The area where my niece was sleeping was really warm since there were no fans, so her parents were taking turns fanning her with "paypay". Kate won't let anyone touch her leg, can't even point at it. Poor thing, she just started school. We don't know how soon she'll get a cast. She had a complete fracture, they have to wait for the bone to align.
My cousin, Kate's mom, told me that one of our Aunts was admitted in the same hospital. She has cervical cancer. Good thing her room was airconditioned. My mom died of breast cancer, my grandmother died of Lymphoma cancer, my aunt Alma died of the same Lymphoma cancer and now my aunt Judy found out she has cervical cancer. This scares me a lot.
I hate hospitals. The happiest moment I had in a hospital was when I had a safe delivery with Migue. There were complications when I gave birth to Dean so I wasn't as happy as I was when I had Migue. God I hate hospitals, especially dirty ones.
Being there made me realize how important having a job is. I hope I won't get tired of working. We need insurance. I want my kids to be healthy. I don't ever want to be confined in a public hospital.
