Frida Kahlo Paintings

The first time I watched the movie Frida few years ago, I really loved it. I've decided to give one more room for her in my idol list. I highly admired her character and I could somehow relate to what she had been through. I am not an artist and how wish I was, but I can only imagine myself as one, and go on admiring her works. Frida Kahlo's paintings have been my current obsession. I saw this Frida Kahlo book on Fully Booked. I wish they still have a copy since that will go to my wish list this Christmas and I have been dropping hubby some clues on what I want. I know I won't get disappointed with that,

To give you a brief biography, Frida Kahlo de Rivera (July 6, 1907 – July 13, 1954; born Magdalena Carmen Frieda[2] Kahlo y Calderón[3]) was a Mexican painter, born in Coyoacán.[4] Perhaps best known for her self-portraits,[5] Kahlo's work is remembered for its "pain and passion",[6] and its intense, vibrant colors. Her work has been celebrated in Mexico as emblematic of national and indigenous tradition, and by feminists for its uncompromising depiction of the female experience and form. -Wiki

I paint myself because I am so often alone and because I am the subject I know best. -Frida Kahlo

These are some of her paintings that really affect me emotionally when I look at them.

The Wounded Deer

"My Birth"

What I Saw In The Water

Henry Ford Hospital 1932
A painting she made after she lost her baby. I can just imagine how painful that would be.
