I had my 5th Honeymoon last July 18, 2010 at Danao Adventure park. It was one of those unplanned itineraries that usually happen on our honeymoons. We learned that unplanned adventure would cost a lot.
When we got to Bohol, we didn't know where to stay. We didn't want to bother our friends either. So we stayed in a pensionne house that cost more than our stay in Danao. We tried Travelers' Inn, but Tagbilaran had power outage and they didn't have a generator.. too bad.
The next day, we took the bus from Dao to Danao. There are no air conditioned bus in Bohol so we took what was available and we sat near the driver. Fun experience until we reached the rocky "abug" road. Then the bus stops every 100-200 meters to pick up commuters or drop commuters. In other words "ga labad ako ulo sa stops!" The bus ride took 3 hours. Then we were told by Ed the habalista when we got to Danao, that via Tubigon is closer than Tagbilaran (FYI Cebu-Tubigon boat fare is much cheaper and closer)
Danao was beautiful, clean and green. Habal2x cost 30 pesos from the intersection going to the adventure park. We were welcomed by warm smiles and very friendly staff. We took the fan room because the Standard rooms with aircon were full again. The fan room cost 600 and we didn't regret that because the place was cool. The fan room was big, 10 people could fit in, but since we are pinoys, we could fit 15 people there at extra cost of course.
My only problem there was the food. They were all fried! Grilled foods weren't available even if I requested. I wonder why?! It must be against their religion or something. Also, they don't have credit card or debit card machines to swipe. You must carry cash which is not really a good idea especially if you are riding a bus. I hope next time they could have that. All rides have receipts by the way, the adventure park is run by the government. Good project!
Our tour guide during our kayaking was very friendly and he was from Cebu. He told us stories about Daguhoy and the history of the place. He said Daguhoy had anting2x and he was never found. Some say he hid in the caves, some said the Spaniards got him.
I have my own version of the history. I think people there are non Christians because you can't find a Catholic church or any christian churches. I think they are in a cult or something and Daguhoy is their messiah or some sort.Night came and we realized that we were the only guest, because all checked out that Sunday afternoon. Scary, but I slept most of the time because I was so tired of one week lack of sleep from work. I had a bad allergy from the dusty sheets from the pensionne house we were staying at Tagbilaran so I was not enjoying 100%. Damn allergies!
We didn't get much photo of the rides because no one could take it. They can take pictures of you for the suislide by the way, and it will cost you 50 pesos each. We missed ours. When we took the suislide, Ernel thought he was taking the video but the camera was on a stand by mode. Bahahaha.
We were unable to take the plunge because we were running short for not withdrawing much cash. Damn. Oh well, at least we have reasons to go back. Let's do the caving! Woo hoo!
